Puppies & Kittens, Fremont Veterinarians

Your Pet’s First Appointment

Puppies should have their first veterinary visit around six weeks of age. Kittens should have their first visit around eight weeks.

During this first visit, your pet will be given a thorough physical examination to assess its health. We also look for signs of congenital defects and check for external parasites.

More About Physical Exams

We will also administer roundworm and hookworm medications, as well as the first round of puppy or kitten vaccinations.

More About Vaccines & Prevention

Finally, we will perform a blood test on kittens to check for feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus.

Follow-up Appointments

Between the ages of 6 and 16 weeks, puppies and kittens should have 3 to 4 veterinary appointments. These visits enable our vet to assess your pet's health and administer vaccines on time.
