DNA-Based Breed Detection
Knowing the breeds that make up your mixed breed dog’s ancestry is an important piece of your pet’s preventative medicine plan because some breeds have unique medical concerns we should be aware of.
A Wisdom Panel is DNA testing that establishes the precise mix of breeds within your dog’s genetic makeup. The results can then be used to understand your dog’s personality, dietary needs, and any breed-specific medical issues we should be on the watch for.
Pain Management for Cats and Dogs
Pain management is not just an important component of surgery, but a useful tool for the treatment of a number of conditions such as lingering aftereffects from an injury or diseases such as arthritis. Ace Animal Hospital utilizes the latest pain management methodologies and medications, such as nerve blocks, continuous rate infusion (CRI), and multi-modal drug approaches.
We believe in a proactive, comprehensive approach to pain management in order to keep your pet as comfortable as possible while maintaining a good quality of life.
Traveling with Your Pet
If you like to travel with your pet to other countries or states, you may need a national or international health certificate. These certificates document the health of your pet and certify that he or she has been properly vaccinated. If you do not have this form of documentation it is very likely your pet could be quarantined for an extended period of time.
Ace Animal Hospital is authorized and well-versed in handling the documentation required for traveling with your pet.
Generally, these certificates are only valid for a certain period of time, must be filled out within a specific time frame prior to when you travel, and require different forms depending on your destination. We encourage you to contact your airline to find out the specific documentation that is required.
We can help you understand what you need and advise you on how to safely travel with your pet by air. We also can provide you with valuable recommendations for other travel concerns.
Veterinary Specialist Referrals
If your pet’s best interest is served by referral to a specialist for care, your veterinarian will make that recommendation. We will also work with you to ensure that your animal receives the services it needs in a timely manner as well as that there are open lines of communication between our practice, the specialist and you. Not only is it important that they receive necessary medical information from us before your pet is treated, but we must receive test results, diagnosis, and recommendations from the specialist in order to ensure continuity of care.
